Ukrainian and Russian media report that according to Wikileaks data, Russia bombed Georgia’s cities and civil units in 2008 . The US Embassy to Russia has sent a special letter to the US Secretary General concerning the issue. The letter had been made secret by the US Ambassador to Georgia at that time John Taft. The official document says that Russian military aircrafts bombed bases, airports and Poti Port, also Gori-located civil units.
“The information has been released regarding the casualties and the number has been increasing. Tens of individuals have been killed in Senaki and Poti”, the US Diplomat’s application says.
The Letter also states that the President Saakashvili had told him that Russians had been going to conquer Georgia and establish a new regime in the country. “They won’t stop in South Ossetia and will proceed with their expansion efforts in Tbilisi as well. Saakashvili is afraid that the Russian militaries won’t cease fire. Saakashvili and Georgia’s authorities overall consider that Georgia’s military occupation and governmental turnover is the part of Putin’s big plans. Saakashvili thinks that the occupants will take the upper part of Kodori gorge by storm”, the document says.
The US Diplomat also enlists those units that the Russian aviation bombed on August 8-9 – Vaziani and Senaki military bases, Poti Port, Kopitnari Airport, Marneuli Airbase, Gori and Kodori Gorge.
